FAQ

Hopefully this section can answer of the questions we reveive the most often, espeically for those new to the program with preseason questions. If there is a question or concern you have that is not covered here, please feel free to contact me. Are you ready for football?

What is LWF? Little Warriors is a youth tackle football program that has been around for over thirty years. We are a member of the Seacoast Junior Football Leauge and play other teams in this league.

Who runs LWF? We are run by a small groug of board of directors who volunteer their time and sanity to the program. However, we would not be a successful program without the parent volunteers or the incredible coaching volunteers we have!

Who is eligible to play LWF?LWF is open to boys and girls entering 4th through 8th grade of any SAU #21 (Hampton, Hampton Falls, North Hampton and Seabrook) schools, including Sacred Heart.

What are the PW age groups/teams? Our PeeWee team consists of 4th-6th graders, divided into an A-Team (competitive) and a B-Team (instructional)

What are the Jv/V age groups/teams? Our JV team consists of 7th graders (instructional) and our Varisty is our 8th graders (competitive)

How much does LWF cost? The cost to register a player is $200, along with an equipment deposit of $150 that is returned at the end of the season when equipment is returned in good condition. If you are registering more than one player, please inquire for a family discount.

Are scholarships available? Yes! There is an application for scholarships in the registration packet.

When does the season start? Our equipment hand out will be the second week in August, and our first practice will on or around August 10, 2009.

When is the 2009 Jamobree? The Jamborees are scheduled for the weekend of August 29/30 2009.

When is the first game? All teams will have their first games on September 5, 2009.

What equipment does LWF provide for the players? We provide helmets, shoulder pads, game uniforms (home & away), practice uniforms, mouthguards, and all pads.

What equipment does LWF NOT provide? We do not provide cups (not required, but highly recommended), or cleats. Cleats must be plasitc, no metal cleats are allowed on the fields.

Where and when are PeeWee practices? The practices are held at Tuck Field from 5-7 Mon-Fri until the start of school. Once school starts, practice will be 5-7 Tues-Fri. This is subject to change.

Where and when are Jv/V practices? The practices are held at Tuck Field from 5:30-7:30 Mon-Fri until the start of school. Once school starts, practice will be 5:30-7:30 Tues-Fri. This is subject to change.

Where are games played? Our home games will be played at Winnacunnet High School. Away games vary on our opponents, directions will be given before away games.

What is the LWF website Well, you are reading this, so you found it! The website will be updated often as the season nears and during the season we will have pictures and game recaps from the coaches.

Do you need volunteers? A resounding YES! Due to the amount of people it takes to run a program of this size, volunteering by our players parents at games is mandatory. At equipment handout, you will receive a volunteer schedule for all home games.

Do you accept donations? Another resounding YES! A program with over 100 players is costly to run, with equipment, field and official costs, any and all donations are gratefully accepted.

Do you do fundraising? YES! Our major fundraiser this year will be calendars. You will receive details at equipment handout. If anyone would like to donate to the list of prizes for the calendar, please contact me.

Do we take team pictures? Yes, our picture day is tentivitely scheduled for August 21, 2009. This may or may not change, but you will be notified.

Do we have cheerleaders? Yes, there is a cheerleading associated with us, however they are not part of the LWF program. For questions about cheerleading, please contact please contact Elissa.

How do we keep everyone informed? Good question! Email, email, email! With exception of announcments coaches make at practices (which may also be in an email), almost all of our communication will be via email, as it is the easiest and quickest way to communicate with over 200 people at once. By the end of the season, you will dread seeing my email address in your inbox! Of course, you can always find one of the board members, or coaches at practice should you have any questions/concerns.

Do you have a year end banquet? Yes, we do. Although a date has not yet been set, it will be soon after the final games of the season. You will notified well in advanced with the date so you can make arrangements.

What advice can you offer? There are a few things you can do to prepare for the season. First, bring lots of water to all practices, especially preseason. Also, buy stock in bug repellant! While the town sprays Tuck Field, the bugs can still be vicious and we recommend EVERY child be sprayed (or bathed) prior to practice. Also, home and school come before football. We recommend that all players put their schoolwork and education before football, so getting homework done before practice is a great way to start!
