Vs Exeter East
Warriors 22 Dover (JV)
The Little Warriors 7th Grade team earned their first victory on Saturday over Dover by a score of 22-0. Mike Murray started the scoring with a touchdown pass to Jordan Keene. The two point conversion was no good. Christian LaRosa then added a touchdown and Murray hit him with a pass to convert the 2 point play. Ryan Hanley scored his first touchdown of his career, and Murray capped off the scoring with a pass to Nick Seta for the 2 point conversion.
In addition to LaRosa, Connor Duffy and Mike Dorval did a great job of running the ball. The offensive line of Sean MacNeil, Jeremy Adams, Jake Mann, Joe Walsh, and Sean Cotter did an excellent job of keeping their composure against a tough Dover defense and opened some holes.
Defensively everyone contributed to the shutout. Two individuals that stood out the most were Sean Cotter who was like a one man wreaking machine, making tackles all over the field, as well as Cam Szymczycha who did an excellent job at corner back in his first start on defense. Duffy, Ryan Tucker, Marcus Lundgren, Brian Otto, and Matthew Nigro all played well at the corner and in the secondary to help preserve the shutout. The Defensive line was anchored by Kyle Grace who continues to play well at Defensive Tackle, Dorval, Mann, MacNeil, Andy Daswani, and Brandon Kimball. Adams and Brandon Fortuna also played well at Defensive End in addition to Cotter. The Linebackers were led by Dylan Wright, Murray, LaRosa and Henri Coleman.
Warriors 14 - Exeter East 8 (Varsity 8th Grade)
The Little Warriors got back on the winning track on a rain soaked field in Exeter at the Cooperative Middle School on Saturday October 3rd. The game was originally scheduled to be held at Winnacunnet High School, but with the weather it was moved to Exeter. The Warriors were victorious in a hard fought battle 14-8.
The Warriors kicked off and recovered the opening kickoff on a hard hit and recovery by Collin Witt. The Warriors then executed a nice time consuming 60 yard drive that ended in a touchdown run by Ing Hao Veasna. Veasna then converted the 2 point play with a pass to Jonathan Flagg, making the score 8-0. It was a great drive, there were several big plays and two touchdowns were called back on the Warriors because of penalties but they kept their composure and stayed focus to get the score. The Warriors then scored their second touchdown on a pass from Veasna to Seth Edwards, the 2 point conversion failed making the score 14-0. Exeter scored the next points on a touchdown and 2 point conversion making the score 14-8.
The Warriors Defense then took over. After several mistakes and turnovers the Warriors found themselves with their backs against the wall (or end zone in this case). The Warrior Defense needed to stop to Exeter drives inside of the Warrior 10 to win the game. And that is exactly what they did. The Defense executed a perfect bend but don’t break attitude and made the Exeter team turn the ball over on downs twice in a row inside the Warrior 10. With just over 4 minutes left to play the Warriors began an attempt to put the game out of reach. After converting one first down the Exeter Defense stiffened up and sacked Veasna back inside the Warrior 20 with just over 2 minutes left to play. The Warriors chose to punt and Cameron Hauze hit his best punt of the season in what had to be between a 40 and 50 yard punt. It pushed Exeter back deep enough where it made it tough for them to move the ball on our defense. After allowing Exeter to convert one first down the Warrior defense stepped up again and took over on downs with a little under one minute to play, they took a knee and ended the game.
The offensive line of Collin Lamprey, Chris Doyle, Kyle Miller, Billy Murray, Ryan Welch and Witt played outstanding in tough conditions. Alec Boucher, Luke Gray, Edwards, and Flagg did a great job running the ball. The Defense that led the charge and won the game for the Warriors was made up of Doyle, Edwards, Clint Felch, Dylan Gomez, Lamprey, Miller, Ryan Miller, Nick Peckham, Adam Stone, and Witt. Peckham also recovered a key fumble in the 4th quarter.
It was great to get back in the win column after losing a tough contest to Timberlane last week said Coach Mann. We have another tough test this week when we travel to Dover.
Exeter East 6 – Little Warriors 0 (JV 7th Grade)
The Junior Varsity played another tough game on Saturday. The Defense once again played great, giving up only one long touchdown run. The offense struggled with the weather conditions, but at times had some nice plays throwing and running the ball. In the end we ran out of time and plays and Exeter was victorious. Although the offense was shut out of the end zone Connor Duffy, Mike Dorval and Christian LaRosa all ran the ball very tough. Mike Murray played well at QB and made some nice completions to his backs and receivers. Jordan Keene made a great catch in traffic. We will work on that more this week and give Mike the opportunity to throw more against Dover. Henri Coleman played well on special teams making a couple of nice tackles. Sean Cotter, Dorval, Duffy, Brandon Fortuna, Kyle Grace, LaRosa, Jake Mann, Murray, Brian Otto and Dylan Wright all played very well on defense. If we can develop our offense we can win some games with this group as they play great defensively, said Coach Mann.
Vs Sanborn
The LWF Varsity program was victorious in their first game against Sanborn. The Varsity won 38-6 behind a strong defensive attack and a well balanced offense.
After a slow start on offense, Ryan Miller got the scoring started by returning an interception 30 yards for the first score. Alec Boucher added the two point conversion. The Warrior Defense once again earned the next 2 points when they forced Sanborn to punt from deep in their own territory and the ball was snapped over the head of the punter resulting in a safety. The Warriors added 28 more points before Sanborn got on the board. Ing Hao Veasna scored a touch down on an option keeper, Luke Gray scored his first touch down of his Warrior career. Alec Boucher again added the 2 point conversion. After a John Flagg interception, Alec Boucher marched his way into the end zone for 6. After Sanborn scored the Warriors marched down the field and got 6 more points on a Seth Edwards Touch down. Ing Hao hit Flagg for the two point conversion.
In addition to the above on offense, Devin Long, and Walker Hart played well. The offensive and defensive lines played well, controlling the line of scrimmage. Those playing well were Kyle Miller, Ryan Welch, Cameron Hauze, Collin Lamprey, Billy Murray, Chris Doyle, and Maddie Firkey. Dylan Gomez, Ben Hubbard, and Dan Kimball played well on the Defensive line in addition to Lamprey and Murray. Collin Witt, Tommy Harter, and Aaron Gaskell played well at Defensive End putting pressure on the quarterback and containing the run. Witt recorded a sack. Nate Johnson, McKinley Moore, and Clint Felch did a great job at cornerbacks containing the run and on pass coverage. Felch also did a nice job at Quarterback during the first quarter. Connor Quinn also helped out in the defensive secondary. Nick Peckham anchored the defense from his middle linebacker spot. Colby Huber also did a nice job at linebacker.
The Junior Varsity Warriors played a very exciting game that came down to one of the last plays. Unfortunately the Warriors lost 14-8. The game was decided on a fourth and long and the Sanborn defense made a saving tackle with just inches to spare to seal the game. The Warriors scored their first points of the season on a long pass from Mike Murray to Jordan Keene. It was good for a 60 Yard TD and Michael Dorval added the two point conversion. The Warriors battled back and forth but a missed tackle or two led to Sanborn scoring and taking the lead. With less than 2 minutes remaining Murray marched his troops down the field, but in the end Sanborn’s Defense made some solid plays inside their own 20 yard line and took over on downs.
The offensive line of Joe Walsh, Jeremy Adams, Jake Mann, Sean MacNeil and Sean Cotter did a very nice job blocking. They were successful in allowing the backs to run off-guard and giving Mike Murray all day to throw the ball. Murray played well at Quarterback and hit his favorite receivers Jordan Keene and Nick Seta several times for big gains. Michael Dorval played well at Full Back and was credited for several big gains. Brandon Fortuna, Kyle Grace, and Dylan Wright all played well on the Defensive line. TJ Welch, Connor Duffy and Christian LaRosa played well on both sides of the ball. LaRosa stood out at his LB spot making several big hits. Jake Stevens and Brian Otto played well from their CB and Safety positions. Cam Szymczycha, and Henri Coleman, also made some good plays on offense.
The Warriors will host Exeter (West) on Saturday.
Vs Exeter West
The Varsity squad executed a near perfect performance on Saturday night which led to their second win, 40-8 over visiting Exeter West. Jonathan Flagg got the scoring started with a touchdown on a counter play. Ing Hao Veasna added the two point conversion with a completed pass to Chris Doyle. Luke Gray scored the next touchdown on a long run off a dive play. Alec Boucher added the two point conversion. Seth Edwards then joined the scoring party with a tough run and his first touchdown of the game. Veasna added the two point conversion on an option keeper. Alec Boucher then scored his first of two touchdowns. Gray added the two point conversion, and then Boucher added the two point conversion after his second touchdown. The offensive line did an outstanding job opening up huge plays for the offense. Ryan Welch, Kyle Miller, Cameron Hauze, Collin Lamprey, Billy Murray, Doyle and Maddie Firkey did a great job in their blocking. Devin Long was also solid in his play execution.
The Defense shut down Exeter, behind strong play up front from Murray, and Lamprey as well as Aaron Gaskell and Tommy Harter at Defensive Ends. Linebackers Nick Peckham, Doyle, Edwards, and Boucher shut down Exeter’s offensive attack. Clint Felch and Ryan Miller were solid on the corners as was Flagg from the secondary. At the end of the second quarter the score was 40-0, and the starters were on the bench. Everyone got some solid playing time and experience in a live game situation. Clint Felch quarterbacked the offense in the second half. Michael Paradis and Tommy Harter did a nice job running the ball. McKinley Moore also did a real nice job from his receiver position in the second half. Adam Stone, Ben Hubbard, and Dan Kimball all played very well from their defensive line positions shutting down the Exeter run game in the second half. Danny Wright, Colby Huber and Dylan Gomez all played very well at their Linebacker positions. Connor Quinn was solid at the safety position. Nate Johnson had the play of the evening when he knocked down two Exeter Seahawks on the same play a kickoff by the Warriors. Nate came to play.
The Warriors will match up with an undefeated Timberlane squad on Saturday.
Junior Varsity
The JV suffered their second loss of the season on Saturday night to Exeter West losing by a score of 6-0. The Exeter Linebackers and their blitzing appeared to be too much for the offense to handle. Our offensive line will continue to work and learn how to defend different fronts. Overall there really was not one particular weakness in the front five but instead just missed assignments. That is the positive because we can work with them and teach them how to handle these different defenses. Mike Murray did a nice job hanging in there and taking the brunt of the defense. We tried to get the ball to Jordan Keene and Nick Seta, but the defensive blitz was too strong. Ryan Hanley had a few nice runs for the offense as did Christian LaRosa.
Defensively the Warriors played an outstanding game. One missed tackle allowed the Seahawks to gain the only score of the game. The Defensive Line played a great game with several tackles for a loss. Jake Mann, Michael Dorval, Sean MacNeil all did very well up front. Kyle Grace had a great game from his Defensive Tackle position. Sean Cotter and Brandon Fortuna shut down the off tackle runs from their Defensive End positions. Michael Murray, Christina LaRosa, and Connor Duffy all played very well from their Linebacker positions making several big time tackles. Dylan Wright really stepped up and played a very aggressive game from his middle Linebacker position. Brian Otto played well at safety as did Cam Szymczycha at his first start of the year at Cornerback.
The Warriors will attempt to get their first win this Saturday against an undefeated Timberlane squad.
